Was away from the market all day today. Got back 15 mins before the close. Got a couple of trades filled.

Not the best fills as by the time I got to trade, the market was well off it lows. Kept things very small just in case this is a multi-day event.

$KOLD: Closing an ATM call for January
This was from a rollout. Closing the position and booking a nice profit on the fully rolled position.
Bought to close $KOLD Jan 15 136 call @ 12.00. Sold for 41.32 as a rollout on 12/7. Booked an 18.10 loss on 12/7 and recovered 29.32 today leaving a net profit of 11.22. The rest of my January calls are at 200 and above (200, 210, 215, 310).

Sold $AMZN Jan 22 (weekly) 540 put @ 1.50. 100 points out of the money. Earnings not expected until Jan 28.

These puts are covered against a short stock position from an earnings play. Cost basis now around 68.00. #Earnings

NFLX
Had to thank GG for this one. He was harping on NFLX being weak last Thursday so I had to try to protect my naked puts a little. Worked out OK…
Bought Jan monthly 110/105 put spreads @ .93 on Thursday.
Today…closed them for 2.58 for a gain of 1.65 and bought 105/100 put spreads @ 1.70. This leaves the 105/100 put spreads for a nickel debit. My kind of protection there!
Also Thursday rolled down this weeks short calls to 115 and 112 for nice credit.
So after all that it’s pretty much a wash on the losses on the short puts…so far so good.

…from Portland, where the city is covered in ice and frozen in place. The market, however, far from it. Should we try to catch a falling icicle today, or is more pain to come? The VIX indicator will likely fire another warning shot this morning as volatility continues to rule the day. I’m looking for a really sharp down day and big VIX spike before I expect to see SPX move back toward 2100. Keeping light on the put spreads and adding call spreads whenever I can.
