Are you using any particular criteria or Delta for selecting the strikes?

  The short strike is around 16 delta on the puts. The long protective put is around a delta 2-4 depending on my outlook for the market.
  
  There are other rules but I follow them loosely and strike width depends on the price of the underlying, volatility, premium, and ATR to some affect. I also use my algo for support and resistance.
  
  I can elaborate more later, headed out the door for a mt bike ride.
