#welcome – Hello Bistro Team!

It’s been a solid 5 years since my last post, and I haven’t been trading too much in that time. (Although I’ve definitely peeked in here every few months!) I got a job with Salesforce in Jan 2020, and they decided to close their office in Hillsboro, OR in Nov 2024. I decided not to take a relocation and opt for severance with my teenagers in high school. I had the good fortune of shoving all of my 401k into PLTR through a self-directed BrokerageLink account at Fidelity in 2021 after watching a demo video of their software. I went all in and DCA’d down to about $14.00 avg. cost, so the past two years has been simply mind-blowing.

Sold a few CC’s at $119 that were exercised and fund my daytrading maintenance at TastyTrade a couple weeks back. Still have severance coming in a couple of weeks, and I’m excited at the opportunity to maybe trade full time, at least while I’m on unemployment! Been trading 0 DTE credit spreads/iron condors on the SPX. I’d like to dip a toe into 0/1 DTE calendars there as well possibly.

I searched through some posts but couldn’t find any referrals to CPAs/tax folks that people use, so I’d appreciate any nods in that direction if you have a service you trust. I’d like to pursue incorporation of some sort too – any advice there would be great as well, if you trade as a legal entity. From what I’ve read at the library and internet so far, I can deduct health care premiums, and possibly set up a solo-401k to put a good $69K and change away tax free? Not even close to that profitability yet, and not future tripping, just want a solid plan for the future and the kids!
