SPX 0-dte trades for 8/22/25

#SPX0dte Sold to Open $SPX Aug 22nd 6255/6275-6470/6490 condors for 1.50, IV 34.76%, deltas -.06 +.05

Was considering sitting on hands but this is pretty good width and premium anticipating Powell’s 10am speech.

Well, shouldn’t have done that, clearly. Had a chance to exit call side with profit, too.

  Bailed for 6.60. Frankly, very disappointed in myself. I had planned to sit out but thought the speech wouldn’t cause such a huge move. When the premium looked juicy, it should have been a warning and not an enticement. As I have already been doing, I just have to completely adjust my approach to trading that has worked for about 5 years. Neutral 0-dte trades just cannot consistently work this year. This Monday was fine, but every day since has been unworkable or difficult.
  
  There is no doubt that most of these moves are not rational. I believe AI is probably increasing trading volume and causing greater intra-day swings based on nothing other than kneejerk reactions. Not an environment for neutral day traders.

    I was surprised by how quick the move was. About 30 seconds after the speech started SPX jumped 50 points. Wasn’t expecting anything that quick.
    
    Agree. AI reading headlines and listening to live events and reacting crazy.
    
    Crazy thing is we’re just back to about flat for the week too. Seems like a bigger move.
