I took a small loss this morning and am now 100% in cash. When the bonds go down and yields go higher, it is not good for stocks and we have an enormous deficit that has to be funded.

I covered all my shorts in the SPY options for a loss of about $50.00 because this market feels heavy and there may be an auto workers strike in September along with another interest rate hike. Also, the SPY is below the 50 day MA and the short term MA’s are trending down.

We have been up 4 days in a row and today would make 5 days if we finish up. In the last year only twice has the TQQQ finished up more than 4 days, so I decided to take the money and run.

I have this long term trade in 2025 and STC the calls at an average price of 11.40 today with my cost basis at 10.49 and I am still short the 40 puts at 11.71 for January 2025. I remember the 1970,s and the FED had a really hard time getting inflation under control until Volker came along.

FYI, I have been selling the January 2025 40 puts, cost now is 12.37 and buying the 40 calls with the premium cost now is 9.38 so I have an 18 month trade for this to work and worst case is that I own the stock at $40 in 2025.If we get a real bull market before 2025 I will be happy.
