Day 7 out of 8 the EM is breached. If we skip Monday, when there probably was not a breach, every day is on the opposite side of the previous day. So we are in a unending whipsaw… every day swings in opposite direction and every day farther than historical norms.

    I noticed that the two weeks in September where these condors would have worked, $VIX was between 14.5 and 16.5. In the current three week period where they mostly have NOT worked, it is between 15.5 and 17.5. VIX is currently in a pretty tight consolidation and mostly stays above 16. Maybe when we get back to the 14.5-16 range this strategy can work. (this is only a short term idea…. I don’t think we are reflecting or establishing anything to rely upon beyond this crazy year)

        Wow… don’t know what hit the market there, but Trail MKT stop hit for 15.00, giving me a solidly losing week. I am glad I kept my put spread close order for .10 active.
        
        This was my last trade, just trying to make 1.25 (10%). Lowest it got was 11.60 before market was hit.
        
        I have no choice but to quit trading short for the time being.
        
        Trail stops can limit my profits sometimes but they definitely save me from catastrophes. Had I tried to manage this drop manually it would have been 8 or 9 dollars or more, or I’d be sitting here hoping for a bounce, facing a possible 18 dollar loss at expiration.

Huge spike in $VIX means Upside Warning cancelled and we could be in a Downside Warning with no late day recovery.
