/VX VIX futures

Watching here…maybe long if we get closer to 16ish. Could be a nice time for cheap insurance. SPY puts possibly? Anyone else looking at protection of any sort?

Not really looking for protection as I’m very heavy cash right now and have a pretty good expiration coming this week. Looking for the pull back to put on more trades, for me, this would be a way to profit from a volatility spike, then flip and sell $UVXY calls. With the way $UVXY and $SVXY are moving right now, I think you’ll get chances to buy at $16 or below. Keep thinking about what the catalyst will be to reverse the trend and just not seeing anything for the next couple of weeks. So I’m expecting volatility to continue to drop. Then we’ll have to see what happens when company’s start reporting earnings.

  That’s true…really no catalyst out there. If airport bombings don’t do it you have to wonder what it will take. I really don’t need the protection either…just watching XIV and SVXY run and UVXY drop. Would be fun to be long some volatility next time I wake up and we’re down 300. Who knows when that will be…just looking at the VIX futures chart…never seems to stay in the 15-16 range very long. I’ll definitely take a contract if we see a 15 handle!

    I will likely be right behind you. From that level, it would seem there would be very little down side and significant upside.
