How is it that UVXY is flat on the day? VIX up?

    We saw a day, a couple of days after brexit, where S&P was down another 30+points but $UVXY barely moved. People were selling volatility hand over fist and the market bottomed. Given the move, apparently people started paying up for put protection driving the VIX a bit higher. Might simply be that people were putting on protection so that they don’t have to sell into the end of the year. I’m certain that part of the market strength has simply been lack of sellers, so any hedge fund or money manager that needs to put money to work has to drive prices higher to fill orders. If everyone thinks they are going to get a better tax rate in 2017, then they don’t want to sell and take profits in 2016. Buy some protection and hold onto your stock.
