#VXXGame – I’m hoping today’s peak of 13.14 is not all we get before the Fed meeting announcement.
I need a much higher VIX to get positioned for next year.

Positions are starting to fall off and after December expiration I’ll be lighter in exposure to SVXY/UVXY than I have in a couple of years. Definitely need another big VIX spike! Maybe the Fed gets vengeful and raises rates by 50 bps instead of 25? Ha! One can only hope.

  FWIW…Whiz is changing his tune on China. All the Trump/China back and forth could be our next catalyst for a correction.

Even if the FED doesn’t do anything unexpected, we could get a little “sell the news” action. But it’s been my underlying belief that we just aren’t going to see any real pull back until after the end of the year. I heard on CNBC this morning there were a couple of investment houses were calling for a 2 week pull back after the fed announcement. Unless there is some sort of shock, I just don’t see a catalyst for big money funds to take profits now vs. Jan. Extra year before they have to pay taxes and probably at a lower rate. Could we see some selling, sure, but it just doesn’t seem like it would be much of a pullback.

Interesting that a year ago the market was keyed in on every wiggle of the Chinese data and what was happening with the currency. And now no one seems to care. Market doesn’t care, until it does.

Like Iceman, I’ve got very few open positions in 2017 so could really use some volatility to allow me to get some new positions going. Just expecting to go into Jan pretty heavily in cash.

  Whiz’s China worry was less about data but more about Trump rhetoric and China maybe sending a message to the new president. I could see it easily deteriorating into an ugly mess pretty quickly.

      Sort of like George Bush when he’d sometimes go off script, you just never knew what was going to come out. 🙂 Heard someone on air yesterday commenting that the market will have some heightened volatility during the Trump presidency just do to that uncertainty. 6 month’s from now, maybe no one will even care what he tweets out.
