Just glancing at that chart….couldn’t a less sophisticated trader wait until he gets a trend change bar. Then…buy or sell the center price of that bar during the next bar. keep a tight stop initially then let her run. Seems like the long runs of the TTM trend change would more than offset getting stopped a few times. Seems rare to get alternating bars very often that would result in multiple whipsaws…

  your tight stops will take you out every time..The ATR for YM was 13 most of the day..the other traders I traded with set stops at 5 and 10 suffered stops frequently..also the trend bars avaerage over 3-6 bars..you’ll miss most moves by the time they change..I have already tried TTM bars, TTM indicators..they dont work for this..Getting in before it turns is where I make my money..every trade on my chart is an anticipated reversal trade…and then letting it run till I exit at a stall or Pivot line..

What are the settings on the trend bars? I can’t get mine to match using TTM Trend default and 2 day 512t. Mine didn’t show that trend change off LOD until 8 bars later clearing the pivot at about 20477.

  I am using Heiken-ashi bars..The TTM trend bars wont work for this …as you saw, they dont change fast enough..by the time they tell you anything, its too late..I learned HA bars long ago, then forgot about them..they are great for this as they show trends well..and all I look at is ups, downs and doji bars..makes my decisions and methods easy..

I don’t know if this works for tick charts but I know I can catch reversals quickly by using either a 5/15 moving average or an 8 ema with 20 sma crossovers. Other options is slap some bands on that puppy. Bollinger will show you volatility expansions and a pierce of the band usually results in a reversal. Especially using a 2 or 3 STD setting. Personally I like keltner channels as well, they will swing in the direction faster. In range bound stocks though I think price or donchian channels work the best. As soon as it pulls away from the channel and changes color with heiken ashi candles you have your reversal. Might miss the first 1-2 bars but if going to trend you should have a good trade.

One of the tools i use from alphashark is the dynamic trend indicator. In exploring the software settings looks like it creates a 4 and 8 ema band but also bases some of the input off ATR and multiple time frames.

I am adding some of your info to my charts and will see how it works. If heikin ashi works with my current chart set up i think it would catch reversals quicker. Looking at some of the candle stick traders a lot of them will consider any pierce of the 8 ema as a reversal.

Personally I don’t have time to trade tick or any charts quicker than 15 minutes so most of my trades are based on a 15 minute trigger or longer, but I like how you are trading. I also played around with various smi settings and seems to be fairly efficient except when choppy.

Just thinking out and I like most of you am always looking for new/better/more efficient ways to trade!
