With little to no time value left, I didn’t want to risk being assigned short something that was HTB. So I rolled one of my in-the-money May positions.
Bought to close $KOLD May 110 call @ 54.66. Sold for 67.96 (as a rollout from Feb) on 2/3/16.
Sold to open $KOLD Aug 110 call @ 60.16
Credit for the roll: 5.50
Continuing to chip away at the basis on this (and will do for my other May positions–115 call, 118 call) provided KOLD doesn’t implode by May expiration.

Following friday’s expiration, I put a tiny amount of money back to work this morning. Don’t intend to make anymore trades until $NUGT moves further either higher or lower.

Didn’t do much last week but did do a little higher risk adjustment on some NUGT positions:
Had short June 50/70 bear call spreads sold too early for 1.10
Obviously the long 70’s were massively profitable so sold them for 27 bucks each. Then rolled the short 50’s out to Jan 2018 90’s for .40 credit. Also bought a few shares to help control margin if we continue higher. If the stock drops I’m willing to take a loss on it since I’m making the 27 baggers on the closed 70’s. Stop loss on the stock is a close below the 20ma…little higher risk with this adjustment but since the spread was completely in the money a debit roll would’ve been required anyway.

Fun at expiration
#ContangoETFs Last week and today I’ve tried something fun in the last five minutes, making a couple hundred or so each week. Sold NUGT 81 puts and 82 calls for .15 and .20 cents from 3:55p to 4p. A little at a time, working the small swings in the stock. Mainly, taking advantage of people likely closing long options before the close to avoid assignment. A bit on the edge, but if I accidentally get assigned I can always buy or sell the stock after the bell to balance out to zero.

Although good profits on these two, I ended up losing overall on KOLD, as I got pressured on margin and had to close at unfortunate highs. I will trade this more conservatively in the future when it pops up again.

too deep in the NUGT
After dumping ZSL completely and scaling back on KOLD, NUGT became my favorite son, but I got a bit too deep in the calls. Plus my broker turned up to 11 the margin pressure on these overnight, so I had to dump four under water calls at losses. #ContangoETFs
Example, BTC Apr 29th 105 call for 3.60 released $7K in margin.
Also BTC Apr 8th 85 call for 5.00
BTC Apr 15th 80 call for 7.50
BTC Apr 29th 100 call for 4.40
Total losses only $1K as these were sold for decent premium. Easy to start building back with puts, which also reduce the margin.
