Here’s a new one I’m trying. Biotech scares me a little bit but the premiums in this ETF look very rollable and juicy. I’m leaving it unhedged (unhinged?) for now. I like that you don’t have as much worry about earnings on an ETF, I’ve been closing stock-based Fuzzies in anticipation of earnings releases.

Since this was a shorter term trade and since the stock has advanced well with the rest of the market and since earnings are on January 16 and since I see some green I decided to close this #Fuzzy. Pattern Day Trader?
Gotta Question for someone. Yesterday I was selling some synthetic stock that I’ve had for several months (buy a call, sell a put, buy a lower put). I was trying to sell two contracts but fat fingered it and sold three, so I had to buy one back. This was in a small account that I have. When I try to sell some calls for next week, I got the pattern day trader warning and they would not let me trade. Is it common practice to count a combo like that as three trades? This was with IB.

I’ve been doing one of Fuzzball’s “whiz” trades on $WDC… several weeks ago bought the Jan’19 67.5 call + sold the Jan’19 67.5 put + bought the Jan’19 62.5 put, the combo cost 22.50 at the time. Today I sold the WDC Sep22 90 call for 1.00. I am also short the 90 call for this week, sold last week for 0.91. I’m only trading 2 contracts (one per week), trying to get the hang of it all. So far it has been really easy to roll, the weekly premium seems decent. The stock has however seen some volatility recently as WDC is attempting to buy Toahiba’s chip unit. Just putting this out there as an idea, working well for me so far… y’all let me know what you think!

I closed my $TWLO poor man’s covered call. I had bought a TWLO 20jan17 55 call and was selling weekly calls against it. The party ended with the company announcing it was doing a secondary offering of the stock and the shares tanked after hours on Friday and continued to spiral down today. I lost 3.98 on the trade, but since I was experimenting with it I only had one contract so not a devastating loss. Good experience and I may try some of these again when the market is in a healthier place.
