NUGT Support/Resistance levels
#ContangoETFs NUGT’s free-fall yesterday, presumably on FOMC minutes, got me thinking if there were s/r levels to hang on before bailing on my short put positions, and remembering that gold has a mind of its own, where is support? The 52 week daily levels are the low on Jan 19 at 17.40, and the high on May 2 at 123.96 a 50% fib retracement between those points is $70.46 NUGT closed at $84.52 about 10 pts above the lower BB and 3 pts above the 50 day ema.
So, I have more questions than answers about NUGT s/r levels but interested in others comments…for sure those with short calls made some bucks today!

Not the best time to be selling calls, but didn’t want to just roll the puts down and out just in case there is further pull back. Gold seems to be firming up now so we’ll see what happens.
I will have limited access to the market today, and virtually none tomorrow and just didn’t want to have to try to baby sit that position.

#SPXcampaign Sold to Open $SPX May 25th 1975/1950 put spreads for 1.50, with SPX at 2032.
I don’t like selling the monthlys with their AM settlement for short-term fear-trade, so I jumped to next Wednesday’s. I may try to close end of today if we rally back enough.
Meanwhile, two spreads touched my 3.00 stops at the bottom today. I am not closing yet… will wait to see how day settles and decide from there. If we start another sharp drop I will close at least one of them and roll.
VIX has popped today but is still pretty far from its lowest signal level (18.75).

STO NUGT Sep 40/180 strangles for 13.30 (x2).
Netted 1.60 on the roll, added to the 11.60 I got for the original sale. If either of these wings goes ITM, I will roll again.

SPX Squeeze observation.
There is a squeeze in progress in the SPX monthly chart.
In the past, each time that it happened the SPX went to make huge moves.
5/08 down; 9/00 down; 3/95 up; 2/91 up; 1/84 up. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, the SPX moves big. Missed the 7/2012 squeeze which lasted for 2 months and went up after if fired for 3 years.
