Morning all $SPX #spxcampaign STO Oct 31st 2485/2460 BuPS for 1.05 when SPX was at 2552.88. 19 days to OpEx. Stop if Mark hits 2.00. Profit target 80% or mark at 0.20. Lets hope this doesn’t turn into a Halloween Horror. I have been trying 5 Delta short Puts per the class I took but just can’t get filled. I suspect there just are not many buyers/sellers at this level in the chain. So I elected to move the Delta up, -13 and was filled immediately which is in itself not so good either. Anyway I have a plan, my inner demons have been tamed a bit. And to quote the Late Great Paul Harvey ….. “That is the rest of the story.”

#SPXcampaign. Apologies for not posting my trades this week. I have been getting slammed by the upside move, so I’m very tightly wound up to the short side, waiting for a pullback. I have stopped some call spreads, sold aggressive put spreads, and have been rolling ITM call spreads. I once again did not take the Upside Warning seriously, mainly because of the head-fake down-day we got on Monday Sept 25th, which happened the DAY AFTER the warning. I made all the wrong moves that day; it was the perfect day to flip my account to the long side, but instead I got stopped out of put spreads. In any case, my travels have diverted my full attention. I’m in LA now until Wednesday.

SPX woes
#SPXcampaign. Monday seems to have existed just to confuse everyone. Now Nasdaq is up after its stocks were in free fall. The VIX popped to multi-week highs, then settled quickly. My indicator shows an Upside Warning, but it seems we’re stuck in a range. A very tough market to call.
The standard SPXcampaign sells spreads with short strikes at around .10-.15 delta. Lately I have been carrying too many high-delta NTM, ATM, and ITM spreads, making me vulnerable to whipsaw. My mistake was not closing those aggressive positions in late August when my ITM call spreads all paid off and I reached account highs. What’s transpired since then would have been easy to manage if I was holding only the .10-.15 delta spreads. Instead, the market is Moe and I am Curly.
