#MARGIN – TDAmeritrade must have just changed their margin requirements big time.
All of a sudden I’m on call.
What’s up with that?

Haven’t heard anything but not sure. I’m showing in a portfolio margin account the UVXY Sep 82’s are about 525 each and Dec 82’s about 750 each. If UVXY goes to 80 margin stays about the same with a paper loss of 4500 combined on one contract each.

Same issue I had yesterday. Even though everything is nearly cash secured (less than 20% margin use) they increased the requirements on me and nearly triggered a margin call until I pared down 1 position.

Effectively that makes the account an IRA, but whatever I can still make money on it.

I did notice today that by buying power effect from my SVXY and UVXY positions increased. Everybody knows I’ve been sitting mostly in cash so the volatility really has had minimal affect on my account, only about a $6K draw down. Will look to put more money to work next week. If things calm down over the weekend, could see some serious vol crush on monday.

Yah, I had a post on the other site, UVXY, SVXY AND other Vix instruments were raised to 80-85% margin requirement, that’s why I’ve mostly given up trading UVXY.
