For a debit of $1.30
Apparently it is good for protection in a pullback of about 7%
They are saying that you can put this trade on about 4 times per year, 90 DTE
When I try to analyze the trade, it looks like risk of loss significantly increases after 30 days, so in my mind, you have to close and re-establish a new trade every 30 days.
If you know this trade, can you tell me the best way to manage it?

I have a general question about putting together an equity portfolio. After speaking with several investment advisors, I realized that all of them have a very limited understanding of using options as investment strategy. They understand ETF’s and stocks, but that’s about it.
This portfolio is separate from the rest of the investments, so allocation for bonds, etc.. is not an issue.
Most portfolio ideas are around proper allocation between stocks, using high quality companies and dividend payers. Well, many dividend aristocrats have a nasty looking charts, like PG and JNJ. Also, the market is at the high level at this point for many stocks.
If you would be starting a new portfolio, what would you do?
Assumptions:
- Value 100K (to make it simple)
- Time horizon 10+ years
- Preferably low maintenance portfolio, because of limited time for monitoring.
- Would you use ETF’s, stocks (growth or dividends), options or a mix of everything?
- I am thinking of PIEtrades as a starting point.
- How would you allocate the funds?

What is everyone using to track transactions for tax purposes?
I use Excel, but find that entering hundreds of transactions is a tedious process.
Some transactions are capital gains. Others are deemed to be income, etc…
For active trading there has to be a better way.
How about you? Have you found a way that works and saves time?

I am curious if there is a version of #SPXcampaign that does not require watching the monitor all day long?
I reviewed all posts on this site for #SPXcampaign going back to 2016 and noticed that Jeff has to do a lot of rolls and must stay on top of the action.
Going far out and down, does reduce the need to watch SPX every day, but it also produces small results.
Someone recommended going with a fewer contracts, but $50 to $100 wide, because it would be easier to manage a spread this wide.
In 2015 I was actively trading SPX spreads $20 wide and got wiped out in August.
Just trying to find something more consistent and less demanding. 🙂
Edit: I have a regular margin account, no portfolio margin.

For those who got assigned SVXY at adjusted cost below $50, have you considered a trade like this?
-Sell the stock at market price
-Sell leap puts Jan 2020 at your adjusted cost strike, for example 50Put for $36.50
-Use the proceeds to buy 5 Jan 2020 leap calls at 15 for $6.00ea=$30
The rest of cash will go back into your account.
Since we already lost the money, selling this put would not create more loss.
If I understand this correctly, the B/E would occur when SVXY reaches about $26 at expiration or less if before expiration.
Main risk is that SVXY does not reach $26 by Jan 2020
