There is some news 1 hour ago about pending news. Cannot see anymore than that at the moment, but trading halted for now.

Still think the algos are causing the rapid changes in the market at the moment, 20 swings either direction in seconds.

Also /VX and VIX have diverged, VX down, VIX up.

Hopefully SVXY stays open/liquid. If not I will lose a decent chunk of an IRA.

  “NYSE Rule 80B provides that a circuit-breaker halt for a Level 1 (7%) or Level 2 (13%) decline in the S&P 500 Index occurring after 9:30 a.m. Eastern and up to and including 3:25 p.m. Eastern, or in the case of an early scheduled close, 12:25 p.m. Eastern, would result in a trading halt in all stocks for 15 minutes. If the S&P 500 Index declines by 20%, triggering a Level 3 circuit-breaker, at any time, trading would be halted for the remainder of the day.”
  
  (Level 1 – 7% decline from the previous nights close. Level 2 – is an additional 6% decline for a total of 13% decline from the previous nights close and a Level 3 would be an additional 7% decline for a total of 20% decline from the previous nights close.)
  
  So last night the S&P closed at 2648.94. Today the circuit breakers are:
  
  Level 1. 185.43 pts (7%) or 2463.51
  Level 2. 344.36 pts (13% total) or 2304.58
  Level 3. 529.79 pts (20% total) or 2119.15
