Jeff, do you keep track of all the 1-dte SPX trades you’ve done, similar to the double calendar chart you posted earlier? I’m interested to see if the aggregate of the SPX trades you’ve made this far are negative, flat or positive based on your experience.

  I’m still negative from two big losses in December, before I had the hang of it. One finished almost ITM, so cost me over 19.00. That, of course, will take 25 or so wins to erase. But both times, my mistakes were obvious, so I was not discouraged and entered the new year with the proper focus. I’ve had two losses in January… one was .35 (involved rolling) and the other 1.70.
  
  The biggest risk is a huge gap open. But gaps big enough to overtake spreads this far OTM are rare. The norm is for a gap, followed by continuation, meaning you have time to exit for reasonable loss.

    If you don’t mind me weighing in. I have been selling ten wide next expiration ic’s for 2 months straight, half in sim, selling for 2.00 and exiting one side for 3.00 on a stop limit on es. es is used to allow overnight exits and lessen gap risk. I’m down slightly after a 30% drawdown and recovery. I would be positive also if a couple of trades did not get away from me.
    
    But risking 1 point to make 2 points with strikes 1 sigma away i feel has edge over time. However, the challenge is when bars stack, as in steep trends. Looking for a filter.
